I am day 18 of BP and slowing starting to feel better but only see minimal improvement on the left side of my face. I had had a sore throat and ear ache and pain behind my ear for about 3 days. I went for a strep test at the hospital where I work but the following morning woke up to tingling near my mouth and a drooped eye and mouth. Upon arrival at work I immediately went to health services, then a neurologist and both feel it is BP. I am still awaiting a CAT scan which is scheduled but not until the end of this month! Presently I am ususlly tired, feeling a lot pain behind my ear which is intermittent and worsening nighttime along with tinnitus. I am finding it easier to brush my teeth and eat and my eye doesn't dry out as often although I am still using Natural Tears frequently during the day and taping my eye nighttime. This certainly is a scary journey. I am trying to keep positive and wish I could get the CAT scan earlier just to confirm it is not anything else. From what I am reading it does seem like classic BP, but then you hear other people giving opinions and talking and then you second guess yourself. Also is it better to have an MRI? Getting any test in Canada is a challenge with the waiting time. My doctor had prescribed Elavil and ATivan both for sleeping and to calm me the first few days when I had no sleep at all. I stopped them after 3 days as I felt I was a zombie and was getting depressed. Sleeping is a problem though and last night I took just the Ativan but it didn't do a thing, nothing seemed to help the pain behind the ear. This morning I swithched to Aleve and it seems to help a bit more. So this is my story so far. I have had wonderful supports from my family and friends and hope to see further recovery soon. For now I am on sick leave and can't do very much as I know that I need to rest and take care of myself which is something I am not use to doing as I am 57 with two married sons and a 1 year granddaughter, and an aging mother and have always been the caregiver.I am so grateful to have found this site. Thanks
